I'm Back Bay-Bee

Dear Friends,

Guess who's back? back again. The Hamburglar's back, tell your friends.

Well, I have decided to get back into blogging again. I have been out of the game since October 2012, so a lot has changed since then. I still plan on posting a lot about food but I might also touch on a little music here and there. Who knows what might happen. You have to give the people what they want, am I right?

Since it has been a over three years since my last post, here is a quick Q&A sesh to get caught up with me.

Q: Why are you deciding to do this again?
A: I love peer pressure and got a new laptop.

Q: Is your cholesterol still 255?
A: No, last time I got it checked it was 176.

Q: Are you going to be at least a little critical in your reviews this go-around?
A: Watch out Jackson! The burglar is on the prowl this time so don't mess up or I will expose you.

Q: What are your favorite restaurants in the Jackson Metro right now?
A: Manship, Aladdin, Mayflower, Mexikali Taqueria, and Krilakis

Q: What is your favorite thing to cook at home?
A: Taco Tuesday -- you just can't beat a fiesta night with Tortilla Land Tortillas #gamechanger.

Q: What is your favorite thing to cook on a stay at home gameday?
A:  Nachos, BBQ Nachos that is. (see:BBQ Nachos)

Q: Why do most Popeyes establishments not serve breakfast anymore?
A: First off, I am so glad you asked this question. I have been wondering this for years, because it's hands down the best biscuit in the fast food biz. I am really sorry if you never got to experience a Popeyes breakfast biscuit in your elementary days. I recently lucked up and found a Popeyes still in the breakfast biz and it was everything I remembered it to be back in the early 90s when times were good.

Sausage, Egg, & Cheese Biscuit -- Oxford, Miss.
Q: What are you listening to right now?
A: Leon Bridges, Susan Tedeschi, The Oh Hellos, Youth Lagoon

Stay tuned,

Primos Cafe

Primos Cafe

Primos has been my favorite breakfast in Jackson for a long time now. I have been coming here with my family for as long as I can remember. They have two locations now in Flowood and Ridgeland. Next time you wake up on Saturday and want a chicken biscuit from Chick-Fil-A, do yourself a favor and go get an Early Bird Special from Primos.

Primos Cafe

They have a great lunch and dinner blue plate. They also have a bakery and casseroles to take home and put in the freezer. The petit-fours are pretty amazing if you want something sweet for the trip home. They also serve breakfast all day.

Coffee

The better Early Bird Special. No worries, the grits are sitting to the side out of the picture. Eggs, Bacon, Biscuit, and Grits.

It's hard to not like the satisfaction of dipping your biscuit in egg yolk. Good thing it is pure cholesterol. I have been here the past 3 out of 4 Saturday mornings for breakfast so trust me when I say you need to give this place a try.

Venison Burgers

Venison Burgers

I had some coworkers over the other night to cookout. The burgers turned out great and the weather was perfect to sit outside and have beer.

Deer meat is pretty lean so why not grind it bacon? This stuff is pretty amazing.

I added an egg to the meat which allowed it to stick together better.

Tomatoes and Red Onion

I got some fresh onion rolls from the bakery instead of traditional buns. These made the burger in my opinion

Around 5 minutes on each side.

This might be my new go to beer.

Crinkle Fries are the only way to go. I got a little aggressive with the seasonings but it worked out. I put some BBQ seasoning on them that turned out really well.

I always wrap whatever I cook off the grill in tin foil for couple of minutes to let juices settle.

The burgers turned out great! I plan on cooking these again soon and also plan on using egg even when I cook regular burgers. I will also be buying onion rolls again instead of regular buns.
