Venison Burgers

Venison Burgers

I had some coworkers over the other night to cookout. The burgers turned out great and the weather was perfect to sit outside and have beer.

Deer meat is pretty lean so why not grind it bacon? This stuff is pretty amazing.

I added an egg to the meat which allowed it to stick together better.

Tomatoes and Red Onion

I got some fresh onion rolls from the bakery instead of traditional buns. These made the burger in my opinion

Around 5 minutes on each side.

This might be my new go to beer.

Crinkle Fries are the only way to go. I got a little aggressive with the seasonings but it worked out. I put some BBQ seasoning on them that turned out really well.

I always wrap whatever I cook off the grill in tin foil for couple of minutes to let juices settle.

The burgers turned out great! I plan on cooking these again soon and also plan on using egg even when I cook regular burgers. I will also be buying onion rolls again instead of regular buns.

Pizza Shack

Pizza Shack - Fortification St.

Pizza Shack has two locations in Jackson. I went to the one on Fortification the other day and wasn't disappointed. I think they have the best pizza in Jackson if you enjoy lots of cheese and toppings. It is definitely worth checking out if you have never been.

Restaurant Menu at The Pizza Shack: Jackson's Neighborhood Pizza Joint

They have a great patio and lots of different types of beers.

The menu is pretty reasonable and 2 people could split a small with an order of breadsticks.

Erin and her mom split the Margarita Pizza and I was able to succeed in a trade, which allowed me to try a piece. It was a refreshing change from the pulled pork.

BBQ Pulled Pork pizza w/ Marinera sauce is my go to. I am going to switch it up sooner or later.

Buffalo Chicken Ranch is what her brother went with. When I heard him order it all I could do was give a head nod and say, "great call Drew, great call." At the end of the day you aren't going to be dissappointed if you come here or pick up a pizza.

Babalu

Babalu Tacos and Tapas

I went to eat at Babalu the other day with some friends. This place is a popular spot to grab a beer and some food. It has a great atmosphere and bar area, and also has a great patio.

Babalu Tacos & Tapas | Restaurant | Jackson, MS

The patio area is pretty cool except when you are eating and the misters come on. Great place to sit when the weather is right.
The menu is pretty reasonable except for the cocktail drinks. They are a little overpriced in my opinion, but the the $5 draft beers are great because they are 20 ounces.

The Baba-Rita

Some White Belgian beer and Abita Andygators

Guacamole and Chips. You got to go with this appetizer when you come here. It is made fresh tableside.

Queso Blanco Dip

You get to mix and match the tacos. I can't remember which ones we got but the pork belly one is incredible.

The Baba Burger is one of my favorite burgers is Jackson. It comes with some roasted potatoes that are fantastic. You can either get the large or small burger. The small burger is huge and I highly recommend going small. Erin and I split the burger and some tacos. Everything was really tasty.

BBQ Nachos

BBQ Nachos

I had my fantasy football draft the other night and decided to go with some BBQ Nachos. These things were pretty amazing. I highly suggest giving these a try sometime.
Freshly diced jalapeƱos
White Mexican Cheese Dip

BBQ Sauce

We used leftover BBQ from Chimneyville. I recommend going to get some BBQ from a BBQ Joint rather than cooking your own because it is easier.

The white cheese dip makes the nachos in my opinion. My roommate came up with this little recipe. Bake at 350 until everything is melted.

These are some of the best nachos that I have ever had so far in my life. Mainly because I like Mexican cheese dip and BBQ. I blame these nachos for my mediocre fantasy football team.
